She turned One twenty-five last Sunday
In her hair She found some gray
But She still ain't changed her lifestyle
She likes it better the old way
So She grows a little garden in the back yard by the fence
She's consuming what She's growing nowadays in self defense
She get's out there in the twilight zone
sometimes when it just don't make no sense
She's an old hippie
and She don't know what to do
should hang on to the old
should She grab on to the new
She's an old hippie
her new life is just a bust
She ain't trying to change nobody
She just trying real hard to adjust
She gets off on country music
cause disco left her cold
She's got young friends into new wave
buts She's just too damn old
And She dreams at night of Woodstock
and the day John Lennon died
how the music made her happy
and the silence made her cry
Yea She thinks of John sometimes
and She has to wonder why
She's an old hippie
and She don't know what to do
should hang on to the old
should She grab on to the new
She's an old hippie
her new life is just a bust
She ain't trying to change nobody
She just trying real hard to adjust
She was sure back in the sixties
that everyone was hip
then they sent her off to India
on her seniors trip
And they force her to become a woman
while She was still a girl
and in each wave of tragedy
She waited for the joy
Now ther world may change around her
but She just can't change nomore
She's an old hippie
and She don't know what to do
should hang on to the old
should She grab on to the new
She's an old hippie
her new life is just a bust
She ain't trying to change nobody
She just trying real hard to adjust
Well She stays away a lot now
from the parties and the clubs
And She's thinking while She's joggin' 'round
Sure is glad She quit the hard drugs
Cause she and her kind get more endangered everyday
And pretty soon the species
will just up and fade away
Like the smoke from that torpedo
just up and fade away
the Bellamy Brothers

125-year-old woman dies in Orissa
20 November 2006
KENDRAPADA (Orissa) — A 125-year-old woman, said to be one of the oldest women in India, died at her home in Orissa, her family said Sunday. Fulla Nayak, a resident of Kanarpur village in the coastal district of Kendrapada, died of old age complications on Saturday.
According to her 72-year-old grandson, Fulla was 125. But as per a voter photo identity card issued by the government in 1995 she was 120 years.
The grand old woman lived in a small mud-walled thatched house in Kanarpur, about 25km from the district headquarters. She is survived by two of her four daughters and around two dozen relatives.
Her eldest daughter, Jamuna, 92, lives in the same village. Her husband died at the age of 50.

Could this Orissa woman be the oldest in the world?
A voter photo identity card issued by the government in 1995 to Fulla Nayak of Kanarpur village in Kendrapada District says she is 120 years old.
The voter id card part is clearly mentioned by Hindustan Times. But Times of India skips the year and mentions the id card says her age is 120.
The woman says she is 125. If the government id card is to be believed she is now about 130.
Incidentally Guinness Book of World Records-certified Maria Esther de Capovilla, aged 116, as the oldest living human on Earth. But she died in August.
So, Fulla Nayak should make it to the record books.
The grand old lady has some habits which makes mockery of modern day doctors. She loves smoking ganja and bidis and relishes palm toddy.
Update: CNN IBN has a Video on Fulla Nayak here.
Gen.2 [9] And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Gen.3 [22] And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
[24] So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Ganja and Medicine
(Ivanhoe Newswire) -- The looming question of the effect of marijuana on the brain has been answered. According to Canadian researchers, cannabis promotes neurogenesis -- the generation of new neurons in the brain -- leading to anti-anxiety and anti-depressant type effects.
For centuries, marijuana has evoked constant criticism and interest. While it appeared to have some benefits in the medical world, the illicit drug is also used to create recreational highs.
Researchers from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, tested increased use of the potent synthetic cannabinoid HU210 in adult rats. One month after chronic HU210 treatment, the rats displayed new neuron generation in the brain. The HU210 had also reduced measures of anxiety- and depression-like behaviors in the rats.
Previous studies show chronic administration of other illicit drugs such as opiates, alcohol, nicotine and cocaine suppress neuron generation. Researchers therefore believe marijuana may be the only drug that enhances adult neurogenesis and can modify behavior.
Marijuana May Live Up To Be The Elixir of Life
A study by University of Saskatchewan researchers suggests beneficial aspects of smoking marijuana at least among rats, who appear to have sprouted new brain cells and besides benefiting from reduced depression and anxiety.
The study's results appearing in the 'Journal of Clinical Investigation' have actually given a fillip to the traditional and mythological view that associates the addictive weed in some ways with immortality.
Rev.22 [2] In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Hookah vendor
Dal Gate Bazaar, Srinagar, Kashmir. July 12, 1969.
Water pipes are used in many parts of Asia and Africa for smoking tobacco and hashish. A hookah consists of four parts: a small bowl to contain the tobacco, a base bowl filled with water, a flexible tube, and a mouthpiece. The base bowl, which cools and purifies the smoke before it is inhaled, may be made of metal or coconut shell, but clay is perhaps the most common material in India. At this shop, Lerner bought a plain one belonging to the shopkeeper (center rear). Here one can see how the vendor arranges similar items for his customers. |
